Exactly.
Leaving issues of morality aside, The Regime's preference for torture has been doubly counter-productive: it has yielded false "intelligence" (see a previous post), and now we see how it lends a certain credence even to the claims of this monster. This nation cannot say, "Oh, no we would never do that", and expect to be believed. Even Americans can't be too quick to believe it: imagine Iraqi Sunnis.
