A Matter of Editorial Choice
The story of the thirteen trapped miners is certainly tragic, but it seems to me the round the clock coverage of it on the cable news networks is a bit misplaced when you consider the fact that millions of homeless victims of the earthquake in Pakistan are now dieing of hunger and cold, and almost no one from America is paying any attention at all. Not to mention Darfur, etc., etc.
Meanwhile, one of the CNN commentators said gleefully last night as he watched the ticking clock on the mine disaster go past eleven hours, "This story is just starting to heat up."
Why am I reminded of the days long ago when huge crowds gathered to watch prisoners be executed?
