Lest you think that the current problems with the Medicare Prescription Drug program are the inevitable result of starting up a new program, Jonathan Cohn (via Kevin Drum) points out that when the original Medicare program started up there were no problems at all.

It's the crazy design of this program and the gross inattention to managing it that are the culprits -- and, they are both the exclusive fault of the Rethuglicans.
