Fitzgerald's a busy guy

Josh Marshall notes that a recent letter from Patrick Fitzgerald to Scooter Libby's lawyers includes the following comment:

we have learned that not all email of the Office of Vice President and the Executive Office of President for certain time periods in 2003 was preserved through the normal archiving process on the White House computer system.
It seems the rest of the letter dealt mainly with rebutting Libby's request for classified materials. Apart from the obvious possibility of a cover up by Cheney and Bush, it's not entirely clear what to make of this. Is Fitzgerald targeting Cheney? Or Bush? Or, is this just further evidence of Libby's obstruction of justice?

We also wonder what the heck is going on with the Rove investigation. The story was that Fitzgerald had to put that on hold for awhile to prosecute two important cases in Chicago. I was about to say, "I don't know whether he is still tied up out there or not," but I just Googled him and learned that just this afternoon he has announced the indictment of 19 people in a movie piracy ring. Perhaps that is part of what has slowed the Rove case.

Fitzgerald seems to be a very busy man. He's been prosecuting the Lord Black case, the case against the former Governor of Illinois, the Scooter Libby case, and now this, all simultaneously. I have a feeling he's spread a bit thin -- perhaps intentionally.

It seems to me that the Libby/Rove/Cheney/Bush coverup is a big enough task that it requires someone who can focus all his/her energy on it. I don't like the feeling I'm getting about this.

What do you suppose will happen next? Will Bush appoint Fitzgerald to a judgeship?
