Foiled plots
I'm going to make a few random observations about the foiled so-called terrorist plot:
1) It was the Brits (and possibly the Pakistanis) who foiled this plot. They even kept Washington out of the loop (probably to prevent Bush from prematurely leaking it for political purposes) until a couple of weeks ago. Yet, Bush is portraying this as a win for his team. (True only if you count Tony Blair as part of the team).
2) Apparently, the security guards at the airports were forcing people to drain all their liquids into a SINGLE container. Now, think about this for a minute. The nature of these liquid explosives is that there are two separate containers with two separate fluids. They only become explosive when they are MIXED TOGETHER. So it really makes sense to force everyone to mix their dangerous fluids together, doesn't it?
3) The plot to bomb airliners over the Pacific that was foiled under Clinton in 1995 involved the same kind of explosives. So, John Avarosis asks, why did it take till yesterday to ban fluids from airplanes?
4) The Clinton administration foiled the plot in 1995, so just why is it that Republicans claim they are the only party that can protect America?
5) Given the history of Bush claims of "foiled terrorists plots" in the past, I have to wonder how much of this is just hype. Were these guys really on the verge of an attack? Apparently none of the "terrorists" even had airplane tickets yet. I'm very suspicious that what may have been a relatively minor threat by incompetents (recall the idiot "terrorist" planning to blow torch the Brooklyn Bridge) may have been hyped into a repeat of 9/11.
