Running on empty

They're running on empty, but they're still trying to dupe the American public:

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice insisted that Al-Qaeda operatives in Iraq were developing weapons of mass destruction prior to the ousting of Saddam Hussein.

Rice, giving a series of interviews ahead of the fifth anniversary of the September 11 Al-Qaeda attacks on the United States, brushed aside a recently released US intelligence report saying there was no evidence Saddam's regime was helping Al-Qaeda obtain such arms.

"There were ties between Iraq and Al-Qaeda," she said on Fox News Sunday.

Yup, this was the same group that got everything right about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction too. They also correctly told us that we'd be greeted with welcomed with open arms when we came into Iraq and that the war would pay for itself and that the insurgency was in its last throes. So, there's every reason to believe them now over, say, the guys who really think they know something at the C.I.A.
