Bush would "understand" if Israel attacks Iran

Bush says he would "understand" if Israel attacks Iran:

U.S. President George W. Bush and President Jacques Chirac of France met several weeks ago. Bush told his French counterpart that the possibility that Israel would carry out a strike against Iran's nuclear installations should not be ruled out.

Bush also said that if such an attack were to take place, he would understand it.

Somehow, I think Israel would be biting off a lot more than it could chew if it did this, and it would probably end up ruing the decision. Unfortunately, so too would the rest of us. This won't be like Israel's bombing of the Osirak nuclear installation in Iraq in 1981.
