Scooter

I've been trying to follow the live blogging of the Libby trial at Firedoglake, but I must confess that I'm having trouble understanding most of the posts. Much of it requires whatever visual aids the attorneys are using or an encyclopaedic recollection of the dates and order of each even in the Plame-Libby history, neither of which I have.

I'm hoping for someone to do some good summing up along the way, but today's events sure seem to foreshadow an explosive trial. Fitz essentially told the jury that Cheney ordered Libby to make the revelations, while Wells blamed it all on the White House and Karl Rove.

There's also been some interesting back and forth with the Judge following the conclusion of the opening arguments. From what I can gather, Fitz is complaining that his hands are tied by the Judge, just as Wells' are, but Wells is allowed to tell the jury this while Fitz isn't. From what I can gather, the hands being tied stuff relates to classified information they can't bring into the trial. If I understand it correctly, the Judge is saying that because it's the executive branch that won't let the classified stuff in and because Fitz is part of the executive branch, that Fitz should be the one who suffers.
