Sit down and shut up, Cindy.

I agree with Steve Soto on this. Cindy Sheehan should sit down and shut up:

Democrats are just now assuming control in Congress, with a full plate of agenda items facing them, ranging from ethics and lobbying reform, reinstalling pay-as-you-go budget rules, changing our energy policy towards self-sufficient alternative sources, and fixing health care and taxes, holding hearings on Iraq, and making Congress more consumer friendly. And already Cindy Sheehan threatens to derail the Democrats before any of this can get started.

I know many of you support Sheehan and may want the Democrats to focus immediately on shutting down this war or impeaching Bush. Please, let the Democrats demonstrate they can govern and be a real counterweight to Bush, and let them fulfill the agenda they ran on, which has large public support before demanding they rush headlong into actions that will cripple the leadership before it can establish itself. Having Sheehan disrupt and shut down a House Democrats’ press conference doesn’t advance one damn thing, and does nothing to bring the war to a close any sooner.

Without dumping on the mother of a dead soldier, maybe it's a good time for key Democrats to do a "Sista' Soulja' moment -- not sure of the spelling there.

The Democratic Party leadership has betrayed the voters who want to stop the war. Every time I vote for Democrats I regret it.

If the Democratic Party leadership wants peace activists to vote Green in 2008, they should just keep enabling the war and trying to shove it under the rug.

Personally, I will cut off campaign contributions to all House and Senate members who don't vote to cut off the war.

Cindy Sheehan is perfectly reasonable in engaging in acts of civil disobedience against corrupt politicians who continue the war, regardless of party.

libhom,

Maybe you should wait to see what the Dems do before dumping all over them. I'm hoping they will have a major influence on Iraq policy as well as on many other things -- like the destruction of the Constitution that Bush is engaged in. But, there may be more than one way to skin a cat, and shutting down the funds is, I think, the last resort, not the first. Let's see. Maybe in two years, I'll agree with you.
