Talabani meets Bashar al-Assad

With the President of Iraq meeting with Bashar al-Assad, the President of Syria, I'm beginning to think that the Iraqis are planning a go-it-alone strategy -- or at least a go-it-with-your-neighbors-alone strategy. Talabani met with Bush's arch-enemies, the Iranians,
a few weeks ago, and now he's meeting with Bush's other arch-enemies, the Syrians. Doesn't sound as though their planning to stick with Bush much longer, does it?

Jalal Talabani, the Iraqi president, has arrived in Damascus for talks with Bashar al-Assad, his Syrian counterpart, in what will be the first meeting between the leaders of the two neighbouring countries for nearly 25 years.
