Not a good day for the prez
Having barely begun the investigation, we've already found a member of the House, the Chief of Staff of a member of the House Ethics committee and a senior United States senator making inappropriate calls to US Attorneys trying to get them to push indictments against Democrats. And both of the US Attorneys in question were subsequently fired.
We don't know anything specific yet in the case of fired US Attorney Carol Lam. But we do know she was fired -- with no credible explanation -- and that she was working on one of the biggest corruption investigations in US history.
Anyone want to place any wagers on whether she got a call too?
And finally, we now have strong evidence that US Attorneys who resisted pressure to crack down on Dems were canned. What about those who didn't resist?
While I was watching that testimony, the news came down from Firedoglake that the Libby jury had reached a verdict. And, what a verdict it was. Guilty on all but the third of five counts. And, listening to the juror describe the deliberations, it sounds like this was the model of all juries. I wish I could say that when I served as a juror, I and my peers on the jury had been anywhere near as diligent as this jury was.
One disappointment for me was Fitz's statement to the press that he was not going to pursue this matter any further (unless something unforeseen comes to light). I guess that leaves the real crook here (whose last name starts with the letter "c") off the hook, unfortunately.
And, the Walter Reed hearings continue to prove the gross dereliction of this administration.
Not a good day for the prez, I'd say. New polls continue to show him at rock bottom ratings.
