PPI Soars

The Labor Department released the latest data on producer prices today:

The Producer Price Index for Finished Goods advanced 1.3 percent in
February, seasonally adjusted, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S.
Department of Labor reported today.  This increase followed a 0.6-percent
decline in January and a 0.9-percent rise in December.

Food was up 1.9% and energy up 3.5%. Not necessarily alarming yet, but it's a pretty steep rise. If we get a few more like this, it's time to run for cover.
