Bush's Best Buddy

My friend, Simon in Ontario, sent me the following from the National Post.

Right-wing U.S. paper endorses Harper as 'Bush's best new friend' National Post
December 6, 2005

The Washington Times, a right-wing newspaper that caters to the United States' political class, offers a ringing endorsement of Canada's Conservative leader: "Free-market economist Stephen Harper, leader of the opposition Conservative party, is pro-free trade, pro-Iraq war, anti-Kyoto and socially conservative. Move over Tony Blair: If elected, Mr. Harper will quickly become Mr. Bush's new best friend internationally and the poster boy for his ideal foreign leader." The opinion article, which was published last Friday and written by Patrick Basham, adds: "This vote matters." It says on Jan. 23, Canadians may elect "the most pro-American leader in the Westernworld."

I wonder if that will help him or hurt him in Canada. My guess is that being Bush's best buddy is not something most Canadians would choose.
