British Officer Criticizes US Army in Iraq
From the Sydney Australia Morning Herald:
A senior British Army officer has written a scathing critique of the US Army and its performance in Iraq, accusing it of cultural ignorance, moralistic self-righteousness, unproductive micromanagement and unwarranted optimism. His publisher: the US Army.
In an article published this week in the army magazine Military Review, Brigadier Nigel Aylwin-Foster, who was deputy commander of a program to train the Iraqi military, said American officers in Iraq displayed such "cultural insensitivity" that it "arguably amounted to institutional racism" and may have spurred the growth of the insurgency.

I just heard that Sen. Joe Biden, Democrat member of the Judiciary Committee considering Judge Samuel Alito, suggested on the “Today” show on NBC this morning that Senate confirmation hearings should be abandoned.
"Nominees now, Democrat and Republican nominees, come before the United States Congress and resolve not to let the people know what they think about the important issues," said Biden.
Biden thinks a better solution might be to skip hearings and send nominations straight to the Senate floor for a vote.
Well, I think a better solution would be for the bloviating senator to review his own performances at Judiciary Committee hearings and either immediately and dramatically improve them or resign from the Senate. When Biden had 30 minutes to question Mr. Alito about “important issues” during the hearings the senator took 26 of those minutes and talked. Not questioned. Just talked.
The senator is the problem. Wake up, Senator. Wake up, Democrats.
