What about Iran
The crisis over Iran's nuclear program is intensifying as Iran removes the UN seals on its nuclear facilities. Iran, of course, claims all this is for peaceful use. The US and the UK claim otherwise. Unfortunately, Bush's bloviating about Iraq's WMD before the war makes it tempting to buy into the "boy president who cried 'wolf' once too often" theory.
Actually, in all probability, Iran is planning to develop nuclear weapons. Frankly, I'm not sure there is much we can do to stop them, just as we have failed to stop North Korea. In my view those failures lie right at Bush's doorstep. He has refused to do any meaningful negotiating with either regime, and, with our troops bogged down in Iraq, we are hardly a serious military threat at the moment. Furthermore, Bush has tossed away treaties right and left, including arms limitation treaties. So, what right do we have to say "no" when someone else does the same?
It looks to me like Bush has set us up for a very long hard struggle over the next several decades.
