Attack on Iran inevitable

Kevin Drum and others are now convinced that an attack on Iran is almost inevitable. Kevin thinks it will be timed for the late summer so as to have the maximum impact on the elections. I suspect he's right. After all, politics is the tail that always wags this dog.

I'm afraid that these predictions are probably dead on ... and my emphasis is on the word "dead." An attack on Iran under the present circumstances is just about the worst thing this country could do. Iran has the capability to really f#$k things up in Iraq (as if they weren't f#$ked up enough already), unleash terror attacks all over the world and especially in the Middle East, and virtually shut down the world's oil supply. What fun!

If you think things are bad now, just wait till Bush screws this one up.
