Firing Cheney
It turns out that it isn't only the unnamed Republicans that want Cheney to go. The LA Times is calling for him to be replaced:
I tend to disagree with much of their logic, however. They say we need an effective president and the only way that's going to happen is to get rid of Cheney. The problem is that with or without Cheney, there is no way Bush is ever going to be an effective president.
IF PRESIDENT BUSH HOPES the "shake-up" of his administration initiated last week will re-energize his listless presidency, he's bound to be disappointed. A far more audacious makeover is needed — one that sends Vice President Dick Cheney into early retirement.

It's like a Greek tragedy -- a fatally flawed Presidency, one that cannot be saved, and we all are unfortunately along for the ride. One of the bad things about the ridiculous attempt to impeach Clinton is that it ruined the remedy for at least a generation.
