So, the government finally launched a probe in January to find those who've been leaking top secret information to the press without authorization. And they've exposed their first traitor: senior National Intelligence Officer Mary O. McCarthy. She's admitted to this--after first lying about it and then flunking a lie detector, she confessed.

I'm looking forward to her indictment, and what other cockroaches get shaken out.
I'm also looking forward to seeing a national discussion of the political nature of a lot of supposedly "apolitical" positions within places like Foggy Bottom and CIA.
I notice that some on other weblogs are trying to change the subject by noting a few cases where the President, Vice President, or Secretary of State allegedly told certain people certain things that were classified. I'm afraid that's not going to wash, folks. The President is the one who ultimately gets to decide what's Top Secret and what isn't. This is the job of the elected and appointed officials of the Executive Branche, not the hired help. It just isn't.
I'll mostly be sitting and silently watching all this shake out. But I expect to have to get the most important information from weblogs over the coming weeks--I don't expect the mainstream media to do anything but try to bury the most important details.
