Getting it
I'm beginning to think people are really beginning to get it. It's taken a long time, but there seem to be signs that the people are really beginning to wake up.
The Dixie Chicks are doing their anti-Bush thing in spades now, and there doesn't seem to be any of the hullabaloo that occurred when they said they were ashamed they came from the same state as Bush.
Pink is out there singing "Dear Mr. President" to huge crowds who cheer her on.
The late show commedians paint Bush as an idiot to universal laughter from the audience.
The other night, I went to a show at Dizzy's Club/Jazz at Lincoln Center where the MC commented on our "long national nightmare" to a largely sympathetic audience.
Crowds boo Cheney as he throws out the first ball at the Nationals' home opener.
Protesters block Bush's motorcade as he tries to attend a meeting at the Hoover Institute.
All small things by themselves, but it's permeating the media and the public consciousness in a way that it hasn't heretofore.
The public is beginning to rise up. And, don't forget the power of "flower power." It toppled one of the worst dictators around at the time, Ferdinand Marcos.
I'm hopeful we may be nearing the end of our long national nightmare. Unfortunately, the damage this idiot has done to our nation will last far longer than the man himself. It will take decades to rebuild. And, our grandchildren will still be left with the bill.
