Why Reid killed the Immigration Bill

Kevin Drum has the skinny on why Harry Reid blocked the immigration bill. The nickle version is that Frist was clearly ready to reneg on his promise (when the compromise was negotiated) not to kill it with amendments and by appointing unsympathetic conferees in the House-Senate Conference Committee. Good for Harry Reid! Every now and then, the Dems are beginning to show some life.
