Government of the idiots, by the idiots, and for the idiots

Raw Story confirms a story I blogged about several days ago -- Ahmed Chalabi is being hired by the powers that be once again, this time to broker talks between Iraq and Iran.

Ahmed Chalabi, the man who helped provide cooked intelligence on Iraq to the Pentagon and the New York Times in the lead-up to war, is once again being engaged in US policy decisions, current and former intelligence officials say.

According to two former high level counterintelligence officials, one former senior counterterrorist official and another intelligence officer, Chalabi is acting as broker between the US Ambassador to Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad, and Iranian officials in what are now stalled diplomatic efforts between the US and Iran.

You can drive a stake through this guy's heart, and he just doesn't die. This man has been convicted of bank fraud (in Jordan, where he is still a wanted man), is the self-admitted source of all kinds of deliberately false and misleading intelligence in an effort to induce us to invade Iraq, and is accused with good reason of spying against the US for Iran and revealing to Iran that we had broken their codes. And, here we employ him once again. What's is wrong with these guys who run our government? Do they have no brains at all?
