It takes Americans a long time to digest : reprise
Although commented upon, this is important enough for a stand alone piece.
It would not be the first time in history that citizens embraced the slippery slope to totalitarianism represented by NSA spying without (as the author insists is necessary) thinking it through by debating the topic. A majority of Germans thought it was OK for the Third Reich to spy on citizens even using members of their own family. Of course, the majority of Americans sem to lack the knowledge of history or political science (a tribute to American educators) to see the impending parallel.
