Pardon me boy

Kentucky's Republican Governor Ernie Fletcher has been indicted on three misdemeanor charges that could get him a year in jail (unlikely). You may recall that this is the guy who issued a blanket pardon last year to anyone except himself who was potentially associated with the crimes, even before anyone was indicted. 13 have now been indicted and 14 more sealed indictments have been handed down. I suppose he will pardon himself as well.

Pardon me.

Also, he's now saying that he will complete his first term and run for a second, despite the indictments. Taking a page from the Tom DeLay book, he's claiming that the indictments are a political witch hunt.

The problem with actual "witch hunts" is that there are no "witches" as such. (Wiccans are another matter.)

In Fletcher's case, it's called "criminal investigation." Ironically the old law-and-order GOP seems to have lost that distinction. Except maybe for Patrick Fitzgerald.
