Tax cuts yes, port security no
The House passed a bill today [May 4, 2006] requiring by next year the screening of nearly all incoming seaport cargo containers for radiological materials, by an overwhelming vote of 421-2.
On the same day that Bush threatened to veto the supplemental appropriation bill for Iraq and Afghanistan because it exceeded his target by $14 billion, his Office of Management and Budget indicated there wasn’t enough money to pay for the screening equipment by next year.
Then why is there enough money to pay for the upper income tax cuts, the Paris Hilton tax cut, and the capital gains and dividend tax cuts?
