Troops to the border

I am getting more and more troubled by Bush's tendency to use US troops for domestic purposes. It seems he plans to announce he is sending troops to close the Mexican border in his speech to the nation on Monday night.

I have an uncomfortable feeling that he is preparing the ground for using the troops to defend himself against the rest of us when he declares himself dictator for life. Maybe I'm paranoid, but no matter how bad I thought he was in the past, he's turned out to be far worse. I do not rule out anything anymore.

As you may recall, Nixon sounded out the military when he considered defying the Supreme Court and may have decided not to only because he learned the military wouldn't support him. With Rumsfeld in charge, who knows what the military would do today?
