Go figure

Go figure. Rasmussen reports that Bush's approval rating dropped 5 points overnight from 42% to 37%. Meanwhile, Harris reports that 50% of Americans believe that Iraq had WMDs and 72% believe the Iraqis are better off without Saddam. 41% say the war has reduced the threat to the US from terrorists. All those measures have risen strongly in recent months.

I have suspected there is a parallel information system that nobody has fully examined as a conduit of supposedly factual information to half the public. It essentially is maintained by Karl Rove and it runs through the right-wing media, religious programming and the fundamentalist churches, and permeates the Red culture to such an extent that these people believe only what they hear through that channel. The fact that there was an Iraq Study Group that concluded there never were any WMDs simply never makes it to them. If they have heard of it, they discount it completely if it was reported in the New York Times or the Washington Post.
