The Kabuki dance "compromise"

I have a feeling nothing good can come of this:
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration and Senate Republicans announced agreement Thursday on terms for the interrogation and trial of suspects in the war on terror. "I'm pleased we have agreement," said Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, emerging from a session in his office where National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and key lawmakers reviewed the compromise.
I doubt the prez gave much ground here, which means the Thuglican "rebels" must have caved. Meanwhile, even their proposed legislation was terrible. If this is a "compromise" in Bush's favor from that, it must be truly horrible. Yet, no Democrat has said a darned thing against the "rebel's" proposed legislation, and all looked like they would vote for it.

Terrible news, I think.
