Letter to my Senators

Here's the text of the letter I just sent to my Senators:

I find it incredible and utterly disgusting that many Senate Democrats are praising and supporting the so-called "compromise" engineered by McCain-Graham-Warner on torture and detainee trials. This "compromise" is an utter cave-in to the White House. It permits the same torture techniques the President and his thugs have already been doing. By eliminating habeas corpus, it permits the president to perpetually imprison any non-citizen without trial. It prevents the courts from having any say in the any of this. And, it hands even more power to an already dictatorial president. It is a scourge on our land. It putrifies us as individuals.

If Democrats don't have the backbone to stand against this, they will never stand for anything.

I urge you to do everything in your power to block this horrible legislation before it is too late.
