All's well on the home front

I just went over to check out my polling place. I had them check to make sure my name had been blocked for voting, as it should have been since I have already voted absentee. The answer was "yes." The poll workers also informed me that they had had no problems with the machine today. So it appears all is well on the home front.

No other voters were present either at my district or at the neighboring district, which votes in the same room. I hope this doesn't mean low turnout. I suspect it's pretty common not to have many customers at 1:30 pm.

Ah well, it's nice to see my own sleepy little district seems to be functioning properly. They don't even ash for id. They still have a written (not a computerized) list of registered voters with a facsimile of your signature. You id yourself by signing next to the facsimile. It's very laid back -- as I believe it should be. The only way you could vote improperly is by impersonating another voter. If that voter eventually showed up, there would be a clear flag to a problem. As far as I know, that hasn't happened in all the years I've been voting here.
