Election turnout not always a good thing?

OK, this one may cut it a bit fine. Apparently, the city of Houston has decided to cancel a plan to offer flu shots to voters in black and Hispanic districts after Republicans, conservative bloggers and radioheads complained for two days. (h/t TPMCafe)

I can see their point, especially if the program was targeted to certain areas. But the old idea that voting is simply a Good Thing is pretty well dead now anyway, isn't it? And flu shots are so, so, helpful.
