Hamas repudiates truce with Israel

Bush's continued refusal to do anything at all to try to solve the Palestinian crisis leads to this:

BEIT HANOUN, Gaza Strip - Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal says that a truce with Israel is finished and is appealing to all Palestinian factions to resume attacks. Israeli tank shells ripped through a residential neighborhood in the northern

Gaza Strip early Wednesday, killing at least 18 members of an extended family, including eight children, and wounding dozens of others, Palestinian health officials said.

"There must be a roaring reaction so that we avenge all those vicitms," Mashaal said.

When Bush took office there was real hope for an Israeli-Palestinian settlement. Now, it's hard to see any opportunity for movement at all. The Gaza Palestinians are being pushed into the sea by the Israelis but not allowed to swim. Meanwhile, the West Bank is being carved up by the Israelis so what's left to the Palestinians is unliveable. Unfortunately, it looks like we're going to have a new genocide practiced by the victims of an earlier one.
