Outside agitators
Well, the whining is still going on. This time it's the Cincinnati Enquirer complaining about all the outsiders and "special interests" trying to tell Ohioans how to vote:
Everyone, it seems, wants to tell Ohioans how to vote this year.
I haven't followed the Enquirer closely for a long time, so I'm not sure about their political leanings now, but they used to be a down-the-line Republican paper. Assuming that's still true, I bet they have deep interest in how Virginians, Tennesseeans, and Pennsylvanians vote. So, stop complaining that MoveOn cares about how Ohioans vote. The U.S. Senate race between Republican Sen. Mike DeWine and Democratic Rep. Sherrod Brown has attracted almost $16 million in spending by outside interests - the second-highest among 33 Senate campaigns.
Special interests also have lined up to sway voters in Greater Cincinnati's three competitive U.S. House races, and most of the cash is coming from outside Ohio and Kentucky. It's a confusing stew of national party committees, unions and business political action committees, interest groups and independent organizations.
