David Brooks: It's the Democrats' fault

According to David Brooks, we have the Democrats to blame for the war in Iraq. From his column in today's NY Times (behind subscription wall):

If the Democrats don’t like the U.S. policy on Iraq over the next six months, they have themselves partly to blame. There were millions of disaffected Republicans and independents ready to coalesce around some alternative way forward, but the Democrats never came up with anything remotely serious.

What is it about these Republicans? As far as I can recall, we never blamed the Vietnam war on the Republicans (until they adopted it after Nixon took over). We blamed it on the guys who got us into it -- Johnson and the Democrats. That's how we got Nixon in the first place. But, Republicans have this infallibility complex, so when anything goes wrong with their policies, they have to blame it on someone else.

I've said this before, but it shows that they haven't gotten past 20 months of age. When my son was that age and rode his "Little wheel" into the cocktail table and hurt himself, he kicked the table and blamed it for hitting him. The Thuglicans are just like that -- little cry babies.
