The surgelet

It turns out that the military has told Bush it doesn't have the 20K to 50K troops he wanted to surge with. It only has 9,000 available. So, we're going to have a surgelet instead of a surge. What difference does it make to Bush? After all, this is all for domestic consumption so he can say he's taking a "new" course. 9,000 or 50,000, it's all the same to him.

From the point of view of the rest of us, I guess fewer is better than more, for whatever that's worth.
