Idiot at work

TPM Muckraker comes up with this gem:

"In Muhammad We Trust." That's what GOP Rep. Virgil Goode says that U.S. money risks being marked with -- that is, if we don't support escalation of the Iraq war as part of our broader efforts to stave off Muslim domination of the United States in general.

Actually, the quote proves Goode's own ignorance. For the analogy to be true, our coins would now have to read "In Isaiah We Trust," or something similar. Mohammad is considered a prophet, not a God in the Muslim religion.

And, given the difference between Spain under Muslim control and Spain under Christian control once the Christians retook most of the territory in around 1250, we might well be better off under Muslim rule than under Christian rule -- particularly the self-proclaimed Christian who rules us now.
