al-Maliki condemns British raid in Basra

So what the heck is going on in Basra? The Brits raid a government office and find a bunch of prisoners who have been tortured, and al-Maliki condemns the Brits for the raid. Bizarre.

I sort of get the feeling that everything is falling apart. But, then again, it's been pretty obvious that the situation in Iraq is hopeless for a long time. Still, this kind of open rift between the puppet government and the occupiers is strange.

Can I liken it to the Free French running the Vichy government?

Actually, the al-Maliki government sounds a lot like ours, doesn't it? Only our side has victims; their side deserves whatever they get.
