Edwards first again

John Edwards became the first presidential candidate to call for Gonzales to step down. This puts him ahead of the field three times. He was first to pull out of the Faux News debate in Nevada. Today, he became the first of the remaining candidates to pledge a carbon neutral campaign (by buying carbon offsets and through conservation), and now he's the first to call for Gonzales to step down.

I'm getting to like the guy more and more. I'm a long way from endorsing anyone, but at this very early point I think I prefer Edwards to the other leaders. I've said my two-cents worth about Hillary on several occasions. I like much of the little I know about Obama, but I need to see a lot more before I can climb on his bandwagon. And, speaking of Obama, remember that he endorsed Lieberman after Lieberman lost the Democratic nomination -- not a sign of good judgment in my book.

My biggest concern with Edwards early on was that he might be too DLCish, trying to be all things to all people and ending up being nothing to anyone. Instead, he's making all the right noises to get those of us seeking some spunk in the party excited. Hillary seems to be the one who wants to triangulate everything.
