It beats me

I'm sure there must be an explanation for this, but the following resolution just passed the Senate 96 to 2 (McCain not voting and Johnson still in the hospital).

A resolution expressing the sense of the Senate that no action should be taken to undermine the safety of the Armed Forces of the United States or impact their ability to complete their assigned or future missions.

The nays were Corker (R-TN) and Hatch (R-UT).

Beats me!

By the way, the Senate just voted against any defunding of the war. I haven't seen the vote yet, but I suspect it was overwhelmingly supported by Democrats as well as Republicans.
