Pope condemns authoritarianism

I'm sorry, but for the Pope to condemn authoritarianism strikes me as the ultimate in absurdity:

Pope Benedict XVI criticised "authoritarian governments" at the end of a tour to galvanize the Roman Catholic church in Latin America during which he also condemned abortion and warned drug dealers of the wrath of God.

I mean, my God, this is the guy who claims to be the ultimate authority on religious doctrine, to the point of infallibility.
