Reid-Feingold and the weak-kneed

Please explain to me why it's so difficult for Hillary and Barack to decide which way to vote on the Feingold-Reid amendment to end the Iraq war. What are they afraid of? Everyone in this country except for the 30% or so diehard Bush lovers hates this war and wants it to end. It's not going to cost them votes to vote for this amendment. On the other hand ...

WASHINGTON - A Senate test vote on Iraq has the makings of a turning point in the Democratic presidential campaign, obliging Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama to take a fresh look at calls for cutting off war funds.

Both have voted against binding timetables for troop withdrawals in the past, before public sentiment against the war hardened or they became presidential contenders.

John Edwards looks better and better every day.

Update:

Barak has decided to vote for the Feingold-Reid amendment.

Enough to move our constitutents into the OBama camp and reminiscent of recent Newsweek piece by Beshloss questioning if any '08 candidates for President including GOP had the courage to make the right decisions. Featuring Truman, Bechloss also cited Andy Jackson on the National Bank and Lincoln on the Emancipation Proclamation as examples.
