State Secrets

The State of New Jersey, along with several other states, filed suit against the Federal Government for violating state privacy laws by listening in on private phone conversations without a warrant. Blue Jersey reports the current status:

Apparently, [State Attorney General Stuart] Rabner's efforts have most recently been met with Federal intervention as the Department of Justice moved to block the AG's enforcement of the telecom companies' privacy agreements, citing "state secrets."

...Anyway, stay tuned. This is currently playing itself out in the courts. In June the case will be heard by a judge in California, which is one of a half dozen states to join NJ to press forward with the issue of telecom's roll in domestic spying.

Of course, the State Secret they don't want us to know is that they are listening in on their political enemies, not the terrorists.
