Surging

The NY Times tells us that even the military thinks the "surge" is failing:

BAGHDAD, June 3 — Three months after the start of the Baghdad security plan that has added thousands of American and Iraqi troops to the capital, they control fewer than one-third of the city’s neighborhoods, far short of the initial goal for the operation, according to some commanders and an internal military assessment.

And, that's just in Baghdad. Remember, we pulled a lot of troops out of other areas of Iraq in order to shore up Baghdad. Think about what's probably going on in those places right now, particularly since many of the insurgents left Baghdad for those places in order to avoid being surged.
