Hillary in Iowa
On 7/2/07, Senator Clinton made the following points in a rally speech preparatory to the Iowa Caucus primary voting.
-Challenge to Americans: She asked “are you ready for change?"
-She cited the damage done last 6 years.
-6 years ago, US had:
.surplus
.22 mil new jobs
.less in poverty than ever in history
-In 2000, Pres. Clinton set up government to provide more people with a chance to succeed based on hard work.
She addressed her background:
-I was born in Chicago
.Dad was a WWII vet
.Mother divorced with two girls
.worked for room & board to go to HS
.believed in education for her children
-Raised in an America with goals
.JFK to the moon
.LBJ civil rights
-Want to be a goals president, here are the goals:
1.Education and Health care for every man, woman and child-moral imperative to insure 47 mil w/o insurance
2.Insurance no longer deny treatment at special disease clinic, should not take a Senator to overturn
3. Universal health care in America
4. Energy Independence: need Apollo project via energy research fund via removal of tax subsidies from oil companies. NO more sending money for oil to regimes that hate us
Global warming related: both will create millions of new jobs, i.e. new energy (green collar jobs) for the middle class-the economic engine of our economy-the core of the American dream, but under Bush wages flat, education, cand fuel, food costs up. I stand for raising the standard of living for the middle class.
5.Education: universal education for all pre-schoolers; NCLB money been left behind, make college affordable for middle class. I went to law school on 2% interest loan.
To get this done, after crony, corrupt Bush Adm., need to clean up gov’t
.Hire competent people
.Attny Gen who follows rule of law
.No more revolving doors or outing CIA agents, yet Bush pardoned Libby in elevating cronyism over rule of law
6. Bring our troops home from Iraq starting now
.To Iraq, make the political decisions, military not the answer
.Back to multilateral diplomacy to rebuild International alliances because no problem can be handled by the US alone
Not running as a woman, but because I am the best qualified to do work of President
.Americans can do this, and they need leadership to execute
.Like the Czechs who love the Am. Flag, I want us to be loved again and make us all feel that love for America and be proud to be an American.
