Republicans seek to throw Chicago out of Illinois

Republicans don't like the fact the the City of Chicago actually has some Democrats in it, so they're trying to throw the city out of the State. This article seems to think that would make Chicago the 51st state, but it wouldn't. That would have to pass Congress, and the Republicans would never let a Democratic state into the union, so I suppose Chicago residents would become stateless, sort of like Palestinians.
