Blocking the Patriot Act

Raw Story is reporting that the minority leader in the Senate, Harry Reid (D-NV), is planning to support a fillibuster against the Patriot Act. It's not clear how much support he and Feingold can gin up, but it does appear that some Republicans might be on board as well.

This government's desire to snoop into everyone's private affairs is really getting alarming. Just today I saw the news that the Pentagon is spying on anti-war protesters and keeping files on them. We need to stop this type of activity before it becomes so deeply entrenched that we can't undo it.

Let's hope Reid and Feingold can block the bill. Keep your fingers crossed.
