Maybe the Dems are Getting it

I don't know, but maybe some of the Democrats are finally getting it from the bloggers. Here's Jim McDermott (D-WA) being interviewed by Armando of Daily Kos. After Armando suggests that the Dems should be emphasizing the "common good," here's what he says.

I think the biggest thing that's missing in the Democratic Party is that we have lost the idea of the common good.

Thanks for the link to that interview! Rep. McDermott also pointed out there something I have been thinking for years: Ronald ("are you better off now?") Reagan in effect made greed and selfishness into acceptable values in our political culture. (Theologically, I have said, "he sanctified greed.")
There is no common good, if my good is the only good that matters. Cut those taxes! Cut those food stamps!
