Majority of Americans say Warrants Required

An AP/Ipsos poll shows that 56 percent of Americans believe the President should get a warrant before tapping the lines of Americans, even if there is evidence the person is talking to terrorists.

Yet 56 percent of respondents in an AP-Ipsos poll said the government should be required to first get a court warrant to eavesdrop on the overseas calls and e-mails of U.S. citizens when those communications are believed to be tied to terrorism.

I wish the number were higher, but 56 percent is a good start. For some reason, it seems as though older people are more likely to side with the President on this one. I suspect that's because they grew up in a time when Presidents could be trusted. It's very hard for them to wrap their minds around the fact that this guy is congenitally unable to tell the truth.
