Where's the Outrage

I've complained before on these pages that the Democrats don't seem to be expressing sufficient outrage over Bush's assertion that he is an absolute monarch in wartime (which is all time, these days).

Bush has claimed that he kept Congress informed about the program and that they concurred in it. Some members said they had objected, but that the government wouldn't permit them to show the letters they wrote to object.

Now, Nancy Pelosi has finally be given permission to release a redacted version of her letter of October 2001 regarding a briefing she had received about the NSA domestic surveillance program. Raw Story has published the letter.

The letter has been so heavily redacted by the Administration that it's hard to tell what she really said. But, although she expresses concern about the program, the tone of the letter seems far too gentle to me. I don't sense the outrage that I believe everyone should be feeling about this program.

What is it about these inside the beltway types? Are they all planning to run for president and hoping they will be handed the same extraordinary powers Bush is claiming for himself?
