More on Hang-Dog Democrats

I just can't get those predictions of failure in the Alito filibuster by Biden, Obama et al out of my craw. http://scatablog.blogspot.com/2006/02/yeah-it-will-fail-so-what-who-cares.html

I keep thinking, Why in the world would they do that? What legitimate purpose is served? Have you ever heard a coach of a terrible team say, "Yeah, we'll play the game, but we are going to lose. We're not going to try very hard, either, 'cause that would make us look foolish."

They need to be pestered to tell us what they hoped to accomplish. Were their advisors telling them this is what they should do? They are not your Senators? So what? They are national leaders, and they certainly want to be seen that way, so how they look affects Democrats everywhere. This looked absolutely terrible.
