The do nothing Republicans
Steve Benen, sitting in for Kevin Drum, points out that the Republicans in Congress are deliberately eschewing any substantive legislative initiatives for the remainder of this congress, favoring instead votes on hot button issues that will never pass like gay marriage, flag burning, and the like in order to churn up their base.
Benen decries the fact that they are shirking their duty to govern the country.
I, on the other hand, applaud this. The less they actually do, the better as far as I'm concerned because everything they actually succeed in doing harms the country. Furthermore, as Steve himself has noted, the base isn't going to love the fact that they can't get the hot button issues passed. No one applauds failure.
